These are extraordinary and challenging times for the newspaper industry.
Knight-Ridder fell, and no Tribune Co is rocked by shareholder decision. In Los Angeles, the publisher and editor are refusing Tribune’s demand for more job cuts. The NYT has a pretty thorough article on the principle players.
If papers around the country weren’t preceived to be so biased in their political reporting, I bet newspapers would not be in trouble like they are. We are all tired of the crap, you are suppose to report the news, not try to make it and as long as it is so obvious what political party you are backing, you will have problems. If you all fold, oh well…you will only have yourselves to blame. Also, if you own the Colorado Tribune, shame on you for having such a mean spirited, horrible left winger as Jon Heaton as your editor.
